The Sunnyside Of Life
- Friday 3-5pm
In an age of heavy metal, rap, and skimpily dressed girls providing often vacuous vocals, I miss the music of the 1940’s through to the 1970’s. These were decades when memorable tunes were matched with talented vocalists, bands, orchestra and arrangements. They were times when songs became recognised as “standards”. The sounds were so good that we listen to them today and are instantly transported back to the days when popular music was of the highest standards. And, that is what The Sunnyside of Life is all about! Many great tracks from artists such as Nat Cole, Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Jo Stafford, and Kay Starr. We spin the great vocal groups such as The Four Freshmen, Manhattan Transfer, and The Clark Sisters. The orchestras of Ron Goodwin, Frank Pourcel, and Johnny Pearson can be heard in full stereo, and the big beat of the bands such as Artie Shaw, Ralph Materie, and Ray Coniff give us a swingpop feel. Occasionally, we throw in pop hit or two, perhaps Frankie Valli, or Mamma Cass, maybe Mario Lanza. In addition, we give the electric guitar wizards a chance with players such as les Paul, and Tommy Emmanuel. By the way, taking of Tommy, other Australians get airtime, too, including Janet Seidel, John Farnham, John Wallis, and Anthony Warlow. It’s all designed to make you feel good, so tune in to The Sunnyside of Life. It’s an easy listening show you won’t find hard to enjoy
